Evolution... From a skateboard to a bike. 20 years later.

Very cool video of an urban biker in the UK... What i find most interesting is that a majority of the tricks are evolved from things kids where doing on skateboards almost 20 years ago... Either way - amazing how far biking has come....

Check out this link to see the classic videos that inspired this kid...

Thank you JF for sharing!

NYC Nutworks....

A very funny new blog that tracks wireless networks around the city. It confirms both the creativity of New Yorkers as well as some their more deviant fetish's... In addition, there are some nice snarky comments that help bring a smile to your face... Enjoy!

In the spirit of reliving the past, here is one of my favorites - the 'Falling Down' video from 101.... Love the pants and damn - thats a young eric koston!

Your Wonderful Brain

Or am I lying..... Fun Errol Morris interview about the difference between lying and deceiving... I myself am more of a deceiver than a Liar - never could keep a straight face...

But either way, great article and it reminds me how much I enjoy magic... Somethings never get old... Enjoy this video from Magician (and Morris friend) Jerry Andrus...

The Boosh are coming - The Boosh are here!!!

The Mighty Boosh, a wonderful cult BBC comedy sketch team has finally arrived in the US on Adult Swim on the Cartoon Network.

We've recognized these guys previously - we're huge fans of old Gregg and can't wait to set the DVR so we can finally see them on the big screen.

So buckle up, and get ready for some tripped out and hilarious TV.

My own polaroid!

The NYTimes story regarding instant photo's and the evolution of cell phone photography continues. And this time, yours truly is part of the story.... Of over 1,500 photo's submitted, one of mine was chosen to be featured on NYTimes.com - see it here.

Needless, to say - I'm very excited.... My first published image! Excited but not about to quit the day job yet......

From Polaroids to Iphones

This next installment in a series on photography the New York Times is exploring - cell phone photography appears to be today's Polaroid. While the photo's lack the grainy almost hazy color, their candid nature and off-beat locale's make for an interesting comparison.

The Times highlighted the images of "Shawn Rocco, 37, is a professional photographer. He shoots a Motorola E815."

Check back later to see other user submitted art.

Rafiqi’s Tries To Intimidate New Mexican Cart From 49th Street

How can you compete with a headline like that? Saw this article in today's NYTimes and decided to do my own research prior to getting lunch. What I found near my office, the above headline and a link to some tasty Mexican.

Who knew it was so rough and tumble out on the streets - see the full article about the beef between the two vendors here.

Paris, 1978 - going 140mph!

Amazing piece of film - received the below note in an email this morning - AWESOME!

On an August morning in 1978, French filmmaker Claude Lelouch mounted a gyro-stabilized camera to the bumper of a Ferrari 275 GTB and had a friend, a professional Formula 1 racer, drive at breakneck speed through the heart of Paris early in the morning . The film was limited for technical reasons to 10 minutes; the course was from Porte Dauphine , through the Louvre, to the Basilica of Sacre Coeur.

No streets were closed, for Lelouc he was unable to obtain a permit.

The driver completed the course in about 9 minutes, reaching nearly 140 MPH in some stretches. The footage reveals him running real red lights, nearly hitting real pedestrians, and driving the wrong way up real one-way streets.

Upon showing the film in public for the first time, Lelouch was arrested. He has never revealed the identity of the driver, and the film went underground. If you haven't seen this before it is a classic, if you have seen it I apologize, but it's still a classic. Turn on your sound and enjoy..............

Po, po, po, Polaroid Pictures - world wide!

Awesome article from the NYTimes where they spotlight some great Polaroid's from the around the globe.

We love the Polaroid and can't wait till new film becomes available again. There's just something to that soft, grainy color that reminds me of simpler times.... And the magic of watching the image miraculously appear!

See some old posts about other creative ways Polaroids have been used.

The Tap is Back - Unwigged & Unplugged

While the original Spinal Tap was over the top, I must be honest - these guys are looking like they're a littl over the hill. None the less, great news to see that even 25 years later they can still hit the road like champs....

Still no drummer?

Read more about the tour here.

An Artful Sandwich

Katz Deli: Corned Beef, Mustard, on Rye
Two slices of bread, meat, veggies (optional), cheese (optional) and dressing... Five (or less) simple ingredients, infinite combination's...

One sandwichologist has taken this passion and documented the visual impression these creations deliver, prior to filling the tummy.

Enjoy Scandwiches and then go out and enjoy the real thing.

Hipster Heaven (or Hell)

Tired of that crowded L train - well take solace you're not the only one slightly annoyed by the plethora of lame ass, stinky, indie hippies...

Check out this site - especially the comments section... Light fun and clever.

Caption for this pic reads...

“I wish for…more allowance!”

An amazing ability to say nothing - and make you smile

John Madden - say his name and you know we're talking about football. Yesterday, he confirmed he is retiring from his position a broadcaster - we will miss him.

Few people have the ability to say almost nothing while talking and keeping you entertained - John was truly gifted.

Good luck!

The old man is back - just in time for the down times

You and I aren't the only ones going through closets looking for things to sell and additional ways to scrape together some coin. And while the bankers may have robbed our accounts - at least it wasn't our lovers who emptied our pockets...

The only good news - well, all this bad luck has put old Leonard Cohen back on the road. Sorry Leonard - tough for you but great for all of America which hasn't had the pleasure of hearing your baritone pipes croon some old classics... The morose tone sung on favorites such as 'Chelsea Hotel' and 'Suzanne' can be heard here (thank you NPR) at his first US performance at the Beacon in over 15 years....

So long retirement.... looks like everyone's working a little harder for a little less these days.

Poosh, poosh in the (Mighty) Boosh - with Old Gregg

I'm not sure what this is - but I do know its strange, funny and unique. Feels like Frank Zappa meets fraggle rock, with a little broken lizard/Upright Citizen's Brigade thrown in and lots of quirky British accents. For some reason I think it might mesh well with Black Moth Super Rainbow....... Mashup idea?? Lots of psychedlia and good times.....

Either way, check out Old Gregg - and tell me you don't start laughing and going WTF!

But wait - the fun keeps coming... The troupe responsible for this concoction of strange fruit is The Mighty Boosh - learn more here.

Thanks Burner for the heads up.

We're back.... Back in the sadlle again.....

Happy 2009! While the doom and gloom of the new years seems to be spreading faster than the black death in medieval Europe, get prepared for belt tightening and more great news on the horizon.

In an effort to warm everyone up - check out this fun online game that helps to impress the fact that doing good, helping others and being genuine does not always pay off... We may have left the era of greed, but I think we're about to enter the era of necessary "short cuts" needed to "keep a float."

Well, would you rather have everyone laid off?
