Mashed Up Album Art
here is the artists story:
A little while ago I put a bunch of Wu-Tang (both group and solo) albums on my computer. 21 of them, in fact. I inherited some mild OCD from my mom, and as anyone who has seen my iTunes can attest to, it manifests itself in weird ways. I need to have decent-quality album art for every album on my computer, which currently equals over 90 gigs. The problem was that almost all of the Wu-Tang album art was horrible (ODB's two albums being the only real exceptions) -- no offense to the original designers, but as iconic as they might be they're looking pretty dated these days. So, armed with inspiration from what Olly Moss and others are doing (as written about by me here, and later by Kottke here) and a book of Blue Note Records covers, I set out to remake all 21. The first seven are here (click for full-view):

Sounds of Summer pt.2 - Ode to Billy
Put together a mix for my good friend Bill. Went back deep into the crates to dig out some of that '90's metal that helped me through some tough years. Music to keep you sane. Back then it sounded hard core - today you might here it on the alternative rock station.... Anyway, here are some highlights from that time... Enjoy.

Where Are You Now (advertising)
1) Its for SPAM - I didn't even know they advertised
2) The sexual innuendo is so over the top, yet remains somehow..... acceptable???
First off - what a headline!
And why can't they write copy like this anymore; (regarding their T-Shirt) "If you've got an eye for design, and you don't mind a few eyes on your design, send us your name, address, size and a check...."
AMAZING!!!

Midlife For Gen X
Gen X. Are we really the generation of "smoke weed, argue about Theory, sleep with one another’s girlfriends and boyfriends and wonder what was going to happen next"?
In a recent NYTimes OpEd, thats exactly how several new film makers describe us.... Disappointing. Maybe. Accurate - my wife and family think so...
So what does that mean for us - are we really the generations of do nothings? Is that why Gen Y or whomever has followed us are so over-ambitious?
I look around my office and one observation not noted in the article is that we may be the last generation to understand work - the fact that it takes time, perseverance, critical thinking and does not always require a computer... We maybe do nothings, but at least we know how to do something.

The Huf Haus (can modular building be cool?)
From Bauhaus to HUF HAUS: Energy Efficient Prefab Homes
German company HUF HAUS is offering gorgeous green houses to the masses by bringing Bauhaus style to factory-made green homes. The company’s signature post-and-beam construction allows for big open spaces, and they serve them up with solar panels and even an optional geothermal heating system.
Tripe-glazed glass walls open the houses onto the landscape while also providing maximum insulation. Sure, there’s a healthy dose of (responsibly forested) wood involved along with the more conventional concrete, but here’s something nifty: HUF HAUS’s factory uses its wood offcuts to generate some of the electricity it uses.
HUF HAUS has just opened an office in the United States — based in Cleveland, but serving the whole country — and the company insists that its houses are only pre-fab in the strictest sense of the word: the modular system is designed to be versatile, and, as you can see, every house is different.

"Shit (his) Dad Says" - hilarious and true
""Don't mess with him...Trust me, you don't fuck with a man that sleeps next to a woman he never screws. They're unpredictable."
"Fine, let’s take a vote. Who wants fish for dinner?...Yeah, democracy ain’t so fun when it fucks you, huh?”
"No, I'm not a pessimist. At some point the world shits on everybody. Pretending it ain't shit makes you an idiot, not an optimist."
“Yes I got him a gift. He had a kidney stone. You piss a rock through your pecker, you deserve more than just a pat on the fucking back."
“We’re banned from the dog park. Well, I guess it’s okay to hump, and it’s okay to bark, but both at the same time freaks people out."

Enter The Magical Mystery Chambers - Really Good
From the NYTimes Interview with the artist: “Uzi (Pinky Ring)” has got a lot of samples on it. There’s “Glass Onion,” then it went to an Arif Mardin version of “Glass Onion,” then when Ghostface comes in it goes to “Getting Better,” then RZA comes in and it’s a Ramsey Lewis version of “Everybody’s Got Something to Hide Except for Me and My Monkey.” Then Inspectah Deck comes in and it’s a cover version of “Hey, Jude.” Then Method Man comes in and that’s “While My Guitar Gently Weeps.” And then GZA’s at the end, and that’s “Why Don’t We Do It In the Road.” I’ve seen on blogs, somebody say something like, I’ve only heard two Beatles samples that I recognized in here. And to me that’s quite a good thing – you have to listen extra hard to hear them. I was purposeful not to take “Love Me Do” and put Wu-Tang with it
